Question: Responsible managers will

__________________.

A Support sellers in refusing a sale only

if they themselves agree with the

decision to refuse service.

B Encourage sellers to sell alcohol

to any customer as long as the

customer is of legal age to consume

alcohol.

C Support a seller’s decision to refuse

sale to a customer, and remind the

seller to document the refusal.

D All of the above

Answer: C - Responsible managers will always support a seller’s decision to refuse sale to a customer, and

also remind the seller to document the refusal.

If the seller is not comfortable making a sale, management should

always respect that decision and back the server up. Documentation in a daily log book is also very important as

it demonstrates an organization’s commitment to make every reasonable effort necessary to prevent problems with

alcohol. Documentation may also be a critical component of defense in the case of a liquor liability lawsuit.
