Gage County M.A.P.S. (Multiple Agencies Partnering for Success) is made up of individuals from across Gage County representing many areas including human service, health care, mental health, education, law enforcement, churches, youth, and community volunteers. The following Vision and Mission describe the work of the coalition:
Vision: Building on the strengths of our communities to improve the quality of life for all people.
Mission: To coordinate, enhance and broaden countywide services that promote healthy attitudes and behaviors for individuals, families and communities.
Quality of Life: The quality of life of our citizens includes the broad areas of physical well-being, positive relationships with others, positive social involvement, and a sense of personal fulfillment. It is our mission to promote a lifestyle that is free from unlawful and unhealthy alcohol and drug use.
Much of the work of Gage County M.A.P.S. is done through four Task Force Committees:
Individuals, Youth and Families Task Force
Community Justice Task Force
PATCH (Planned Approach To Community Health)/Healthy Lifestyles Task Force
Message from Director Christina Lyons:
The mission of MAPS is to "...promote healthy attitudes and behaviors for individuals, families and communities" in Gage County. This is a daunting task...the mission of our coalition is broad and far-reaching and difficult to know where to begin. But because we are not simply one organization, but a coalition of many, we can face this task with more confidence. No one member of MAPS can be expected to know all of the challenges, strengths, and resources of our entire county. So we rely on each other to contribute our individual knowledge, ideas, energy, and passion in our distinct area. We have a wonderfully diverse mixture of professions, interests, backgrounds represented at every MAPS meeting. Our diversity makes us stronger, and makes us appreciate the community to which we all belong.
Yes, our mission is a vast one, but through the strength of this coalition we are sure to achieve great things. I hope you will contact me with any questions or ideas you have about MAPS, or if you wish to become involved. You can contact me at (402) 223-1500, ext. 1059 or email me at: clyons@bpsne.org.
Thank you for visiting our website and finding out more about MAPS!
